The Fish Child

The complications in this script confuse and then disappoint. The viewer is driven into a corner and then the same monster we saw last scene pops out. It becomes tedious.

Too bad that this Argentian film is overwrought because it is beautifully photographed with a solid storyline that gets muddled by all the unnecessarys.  Inez Efrons who was so powerful in her last film XXY, is self-conscious and her acting suffers. On the bright side, Mariela Vitale gives a perfect performance with an amazing range and evokes compassion and passion with equal measure. Certainly worth the hour plus, but flawed to the rating of 3.5
